Bulk Import

Last updated

Bulk import is how you move from “we have everything in spreadsheets” to a live, structured Mantle cap table without re‑typing every row. Mantle reads your spreadsheet, maps the columns to the right fields, and creates the underlying stakeholders, share records, options, SAFEs, and other securities for you.

When to use bulk import vs. manual entry

Use bulk import from spreadsheets when:

  • You’re onboarding from an existing cap table spreadsheet or law‑firm workbook.

  • You need to load a large set of historical grants, SAFEs, or share issuances.

  • You want to clean up and centralize data from multiple spreadsheets into one system of record.

Use manual entry when:

  • You’re recording a small number of new events going forward (for example, a single new option grant).

  • You prefer to let Mantle’s AI extract data from PDFs or docs instead of spreadsheets.

Downloading bulk import spreadsheet templates

  1. Navigate to the security type on the left-hand side navigation bar.

  2. Click Draft.

  3. Click Import.

  4. Click Download XLSX template on the bottom left of the pop-up.

Formatting nuances

  • All dates must be in format YYYY-MM-DD (e.g. 2026-01-01).

  • All dollar amounts must be in Excel Currency format.

  • All values in the Shares Granted column must be a whole number, not a decimal (e.g. 10,000 is acceptable; 10,000.00 is not).

Fixing issues after an import

If something is off after an import:

For small corrections

You can edit individual stakeholders or securities directly in Mantle (e.g. fix a typo or missing date).

For larger issues
